If  you  are  like  everyone  else  who  does  business  on  the  web  or  is  thinking  of  doing  business,  then  an  important  issue  is  making  sure  your  page  has  high SEO.

SEO,  search  engine  optimization,  is  what  will  get  your  website  the  high  traffic  everyone  on  the  internet  desires.  However,  how  a  person  goes  about  getting  maximum  SEO  is  important,  and  going  about  it  wrongly  can  get  a  person  in  trouble.  There  is  such  a  thing  as  Blackhat  SEO’s  and  like in movie westerns  the  blackhats  are  considered  the  bad  guys.

The  Blackhats  are  the  bad  guys  of  SEO.  They  are  usually  consultants  or  webmasters  hired  by  web  site  owners  to  help  them  achieve  high  search  engine  optimization. What  is  the  problem  is  the  way  Blackhats  go  about  getting  these  results.

Methods

The  methods  that  Blackhats  use  are  considered  to  be  manipulative  and  unethical. The  underhanded  tactics  that  consultants  who  are  termed  Blackhats are  known  for  are  as  follows:

First-  one  method  Blackhats  use  is  called  cloaking.  When  a  Blackhat  uses  cloaking  to  get  a  maximum  SEO  what  they  are  doing  is  showing  one  thing  to  the  search  engine  spider,  which  is  a  program  or  script  that  browsers  the internet  in  an  slow,  careful  and  automated  manner,  but  shows  something  vastly  different  in  a user’s  browser.

Second-   then  there  is  something  called  spamdexing.  When  a  Blackhat  is  spamdexing  they  are  purposely  creating  web  pages,  which  search  engines  will  indexed  and  thereby  increasing  their  chance  of  a  website  or  page  being  placed  close  to  the  beginning  of  search  engine  results.  Spamdexing  also  can  be  used  to  influence  the  category  to  which  the  page  is  assigned. 

For  example,  if  a  site  deals  with  grooming  habits  of  pets, while  another  site  only  sells  necklaces  of  animals  a  Blackhat  might  create  a  web  page  where people  both  categories  will  visit

Third-    another  method  Blackhats  will  use  is  called  creating doorway pages.  What  are  doorway  pages?  Doorway  pages  are  sites  pages,  which  are  packed  with  keywords  that  are  put  in  the  pages  solely  for  the  purpose  of  getting  hits  off  the  search  engine. 

Blackhats  may  use  a  spam  page (pages  which  are  used  to  promote  another  site)  to  pull  visitors  to  the  main  site.  For  example,  a  person  searches  for  information  about  clocks  and  search  engine  results  leads  to  a  site  that  advertise  for  clocks  but  does  not  actually  deal  with  them.

Once  at  the  spam  site  a  person  is  lead  into  the  real  site  thus  getting  them  more  visitors.

Fourth-  Blackhats  also  creates hidden  text  to  achieve  maximum  SEO.  By  creating  hidden  texts  Blackhats  will  put  certain  keywords  into  web  pages,  but  they  do  this  without  spamming  the  pages  with  certain  keywords.  What  they  do  instead  is  make  the  text  the  same  color  as  the  background  or  the  background  so  visitors  can’t  see  the  text.

Conclusion

Although  there  are  Blackhat  consultants  there  are  also  good  ones  known  as  the  Whitehats,  and  they  go  about  achieving  high  SEO  for  their  clients  without  resorting  to  underhanded  tricks.

If  a  businessperson  needs  help  for  their  site,  and  many  do,  then  choose  someone  honest  who  can  help  you  achieve  the  results  you  want.  Although,  many  Blackhat’s  underhanded  tactics  work  for  awhile,  if  caught,  and  many  are,  a  person  can  get  banned  from  the  search  engine(it  is  possible),  and  lose  all  the  potential  traffic  that  would  have  been  theirs  if  they  had  just  done  the  right  thing.

There  are  ways  to  get  high  traffic  to  your  website  without  causing  a  person  to  get into  trouble.  If  one  hires  a  consultant  who  resorts  to  these  tactics  fire  them  and  look  for  someone  honorable.
